The Beginning

A practice carried from Tokyo.

M Kami opened in Melbourne in 2024, inspired by the Japanese philosophy of care, ritual and restoration. The name combines mizu (水), meaning water, and kami (髪), meaning hair — the two elements at the heart of every Japanese Head Spa experience.

In Japanese tradition, water symbolises cleansing, renewal, flow and rest. Together, they reflect the calm and restorative experience that defines every M Kami treatment.

Across our studios, every treatment is delivered with the same attention to detail, consistency and care that define M Kami.

Nurturing your scalp, nourishing your beauty.

The Philosophy

A treatment is not a haircut. It is a return.

Japanese Head Spa is a ritual of care, not simply a beauty treatment. It begins with gentle cleansing and unfolds through attentive touch, warm water and rhythmic massage inspired by Japanese traditions.

Many guests arrive expecting something similar to a salon scalp wash. They leave understanding the difference. Over seventy or ninety minutes, the experience becomes a quiet moment of restoration — time to slow down, release tension and reconnect with yourself.

As someone who's had head spa treatments in Tokyo, this is the closest I've found in Australia. The technique is right. The space is right. I rebook before I leave.
